I pretty much agree that this was a pointless remake, and the ending was very anticlimactic.
I never really got why the Travolta character was doing what he was doing? Was it money, which is one of the explanations they suggested, or was it for some bizarre death wish, which they also suggested. And they never made up their mind.
I also agree that the strobe effect was tired. This whole movie just felt like an afterthought. Tony Scott was like, “Oh, I haven’t made a movie with Denzel this week, what shall I do?”
